We’re Hiring: Marketing Apprentice
Byron Bay / Northern Rivers, NSW · Part time · $3,000/month gross,
contractor (probation period) with intention to expand role and wage into full time Marketing Manager role over 12-16 months. Initial phase probabtion period 3 Months.
About Great Spirit
Great Spirit is a Byron Bay based wholefood tonic and supplement brand, founded
by Sam and Ayana Ryan. Our flagship product, Iron Restore, is a traditional liquid
iron tonic, alongside a growing range of capsule products. We’re a small, values led
team on a mission to help Australians feel genuinely well, while using the business
to support a bigger vision around mental health and community wellbeing.
The Role
We’re looking for a Marketing Apprentice to work closely with Sam, our co founder,
learning and eventually co owning the promotional rhythm and content calendar of
the business. You’ll produce media across email, social, paid ads, and website, and
over time grow into a genuinely skilled, well rounded ecommerce marketer.
This is an entry to mid level role with a clear, honest path to more responsibility,
more autonomy, and better pay as you prove yourself. It’s not a job with a ceiling.
It’s a role designed to grow you into someone genuinely capable, given the time, coaching, and trust to get there.
What You’ll Actually Be Doing
In the early months, you’ll be executing against a calendar Sam sets, not building it
from scratch. Think:
• Turning briefs into finished social posts, emails, and ad creative
• Repurposing existing content across channels
• Drafting copy in Great Spirit’s warm, honest brand voice
• Helping rebuild our Klaviyo email and SMS flows from the ground up,
working directly alongside Sam
• Producing and helping optimise landing pages, advertorials, and listicles,
content types we measure closely and continually improve based on real
performance
• Spending dedicated hours completing modules and attending live sessions
with Australia’s leading online ecommerce marketing coaching community,
building the foundation of knowledge you’ll draw on to own aspects of the
role beyond your three month probation period
The Opportunity
Fair pay, with bonuses tied to real value. As responsibility grows, so does pay,
and bonuses are attached to the genuine value of work produced, particularly in
email and paid ad performance.
World class training, on the clock. You’ll get access to the Ecommerce Equation
community, one of Australia’s leading ecommerce coaching platforms, as a required
and paid part of the role. A set number of paid hours each week are dedicated to
studying modules and attending live coaching sessions, and you’ll also have access
to the community outside of work hours if you want to go further. Membership
alone is typically valued at around $2,150 a month, so this is a genuine investment
in you. If you choose to put in extra time learning and applying what you learn, that
effort is recognised as bringing real value to the company, and can result in a
shortened probation period or other value based rewards. In short, this role is built
for people who are intrapreneurial: those who take initiative, go beyond what’s
asked, and want to set their own pace toward greater knowledge, skill, and
ownership.
A genuine growth path, from apprentice through to a high level ecommerce
marketing manager role, including eventual co ownership of our whole
multichannel marketing, email and SMS, social, paid ads, and website. With time and trust built, a fully owned role could eventuate.
Who We’re Looking For
• Genuinely drawn to wholefood, wellness, or conscious business, this shows
up in the work
• Someone who resonates deeply with our vision and wants to be part of
something larger than themselves, ultimately, this work is about making a
positive impact on as many people’s lives as possible
• Intrapreneurial: takes initiative, works hard without needing to be told what
to do, and looks for ways to add value rather than waiting to be assigned it
• Loves social media, perhaps runs their own account with a decent following,
and genuinely enjoys making content, curious about why some things
perform and others don’t
• A natural writer and visual thinker, comfortable with both words and basic
design or video
• Quick and capable editing on mobile for social specific formats, great at reels
and short form production
• A clever, humorous vibe
• Data focused, able to analyse and optimise content based on real data, not
just feelings
• Reliable and detail oriented without needing to be micromanaged
• Coachable and hungry to grow, this role rewards people who want to learn,
not people who already think they know it all
• Comfortable working closely within a small, high trust team
• Based locally in or near Byron Bay/Northern Rivers, with availability for
regular in person sessions
• Some hands on experience with tools like Canva, Instagram’s reel creator,
TikTok’s video editor, CapCut or a similar video editor, Klaviyo, Shopify, or
Replo page builder, you don’t need to know all of them, but comfort with at
least a few of these (or genuine equivalents) will help you hit the ground running
• 1 to 3 years experience in content, social, or ecommerce marketing is ideal, but a
strong self taught portfolio matters more to us than a polished resume.
Details
• Hours: 20 hours/week of tasked work. This is a working role with real
expectations, weekly quality and quantity of output will be reviewed
together, alongside KPIs relevant to your stage in the role.
• Pay: $3,000/month gross, reviewed at the end of a 3 month probation period•
• Location: Local to Byron Bay/Northern Rivers, flexible day to day working style with regular in person sessions for filming and planning
• Start date: ASAP, as soon as we find the right person

ROUND 1 APPLICATION:
Firstly, thanks for your interest in joining Great Spirit. This first step is about getting to know you, your story, and how you think, not testing you on a task just yet. Take your time, answer honestly, and let your personality come through. There are no trick questions here.
